KA 2.1 Perform all scheduled maintenance inspections 
in a timely fashion.

2.1.1 Perform annual DOT/OEM inspection.
2.1.2 Perform regularly scheduled maintenance inspections.
2.1.3 Document DOT/OEM and maintenance inspection activities on appropriate forms.

 

Knowledge of DOT certification for vehicle inspection

Knowledge of DOT/OEM out-of-service criteria

Knowledge and usage of shop manuals and other appropriate documentation

Using the following tools, resources and equipment:

Basic Mechanic's hand tools

Appropriate DOT/OEM inspection cards

Filter/lubricants as required

Appropriate shop service manuals and other documentation

Appropriate inspection tools.

KA 2.2 Perform scheduled maintenance services.

2.2.2 Document required preventative maintenance on appropriate forms.
Knowledge of appropriate preventative maintenance services for vehicles and equipment

Basic mechanic's hand tools

Appropriate preventative maintenance checklists

Fluids/filters/lubricants as required

KA 2.3 Identify and determine needed repairs.

2.3.1 Identify class 1, 2, and 3 fluid leaks.
2.3.2 Identify non-acceptable wear tolerances and/or adjustments.
2.3.3 Identify structural defects and unusual wear patterns.
2.3.4 Advise customer and supervisor of repairs and maintenance.
2.3.5 Supervisor inspection verifies identified needed repairs.
Knowledge of appropriate inspection procedures and wear analysis guidelines

Knowledge and usage of shop manuals and other appropriate documentation
Using the following tools, resources, and equipment:  

Basic mechanic's hand tools for operation maintenance

Appropriate preventative maintenance checklists
