KA 1.1 Perform all operations and equipment handling while adhering to safe practices.

1.1.1 Utilize and store spray paints and other chemicals using appropriate personal equipment in approved areas.
1.1.2 Demonstrate safe work habits and utilize safety and personal protection equipment, according to industry-recognized general safety rules. 
1.1.3 Use proper manual lifting techniques to lift and block equipment and vehicles.
1.1.4 Follow recognized emergency procedures and report all accidents, injuries, and near misses to supervisor.
1.1.5 Handle hazardous materials in accordance with OSHA, EPA, and MSHA requirements, properly identifying right-to-know and Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS).
1.1.6 Adhere to safe shop practices as specified by company policy, OEM specifications, and state and federal regulations.
1.1.7 Utilize cutting and welding in maintenance of heavy equipment in a safe manner.
Knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and MSHA safety rules and regulations and company or original equipment manufacturer (OEM) specifications

Knowledge and application of first aid and CPR

Knowledge of personal protection equipment and emergency equipment and materials

Using the following tools, resources, and equipment:

Appropriate personal protection equipment (PPE)

Appropriate emergency equipment and materials

KA 1.2 Ensure that employees/teams develop and improve technical, interpersonal, and communication skills to provide effective customer service.

1.3.6 Documentation meets departmental and company-written specifications and guidelines.

Knowledge and usage of shop manuals and other appropriate documentation

Personal/Laptop computer

Engineering drawings/schematics as required

Appropriate shop service manuals and other documentation

KA 1.4 Perform general housekeeping and maintenance.

1.4.1 Maintain safe and clean work environment, including shop tools, equipment, and workbenches.
1.4.2 Perform preventative maintenance on shop tools and equipment.
1.4.3 Complete approved checklist with comprehensive list of shop tools, equipment, and workbenches to be cleaned and maintained.
