Occupational Title: HAZMAT Maintenance Technician Key Purpose: Treat, monitor, store, and dispose hazardous materials and conduct emergency response.

3.1	Properly treat, contain, and store hazardous materials and waste.	Number Criteria 3.1.1  Direct personnel in the proper handling and control of hazardous materials and waste.  3.1.2  Safely handle containers such as bulk containers, drums, portable stationary tanks, etc.  3.1.3  Dismantle containers.  3.1.4  Properly segregate incompatible hazardous materials and wastes.  3.1.5  Properly store incompatible hazardous materials and wastes.  3.1.6  Post-inspection audit indicates proper containment and storage procedures utilized.	Knowledge and application of proper containers to utilize in storage of hazardous materials and waste. 3.2	Utilize safe handling procedures.	Number Criteria 3.2.1  Identify safe chemical handling procedures such as  fire control, grounding and bonding, storage vapor control, and ventilation.  3.2.2  Implement safe chemical handling procedures such as fire control, grounding and bonding, storage vapor control, and ventilation.  3.2.3  Use appropriate operations and maintenance procedures, plans, and manuals.  3.2.4  Safely package hazardous materials and wastes in compliance with appropriate regulations.  3.2.5  Supervisor inspection indicates safe handling procedures utilized. 3.3	Follow mitigation and response protocol. 3.4	Utilize proper hazmat disposal procedures.	Number Criteria 3.4.1  Schedule hazardous materials removal shipments to proper disposal facilities.  3.4.2  Coordinate collection and disposal of empty containers.  3.4.3  Prepare accumulated hazardous waste for proper disposal.  3.4.4  Create and maintain disposal facility. 3.4.5 Post-inspection audit indicates proper hazmat disposal procedures utilized.
