Some community and technical colleges have incorporated skill standards into their technical education programs to ensure that the workforce skill needs of business and industry are met. The Texas Skill Standards Board (TSSB) has formally recognized these programs

To receive TSSB recognition, the program staff has documented the courses in which they teach the skill standards competencies, or key activities. They also have agreed to assess their students on the basis of the related performance criteria, skills and knowledge specified in the skill standards. The TSSB recommends that employers consider these programs first in their recruitment efforts, as a likely source of qualified job applicants.
