Employers and industry groups are a crucial part of building a skill standards system in Texas.  Employers can become involved by developing skill standards, requesting TSSB Conditional Recognition for existing skill standards developed outside the State of Texas, promoting skill standards use among education and training providers, and volunteering for an Industry Technical Advisory Committee which oversees the skills standards development process.

Community and Technical Colleges are also a crucial part of the skills standard process. These colleges can receive TSSB Program Recognition to promote their programs in the local and higher education communities.  As employers become aware of Recognized Programs, they will look to those colleges as a likely source of qualified job applicants.

Please contact the TSSB if you have additional questions after visiting this website, or require technical  assistance with skill standards development.

Tell Us About Efforts in Texas
Many workforce development efforts are occurring in Texas. The goal of some of these efforts is to determine the knowledge and skill requirements of employers, (both broad and specific occupational competencies) so that training and education providers are better able to address employers needs through the creation of a pool of skilled graduates that are work-ready.

In an effort to facilitate information sharing among all stakeholders regarding initiatives and projects that identify employer's knowledge and skill requirements, the TSSB is willing to act as an "information conduit." The TSSB will post information about relevant regional and state initiatives on this web site. If you are involved in an initiative or project let us know!
